Hello guys, I hope you all are doing well these days. Well, happiness is the key to success in your life because happiness makes you understand the things calmly. But being happy is not easy for some people because some people overthink the situation and create some worst scenario in their head. And the outcome of this leads to Depression.
This idea of writing about Depression is inspired by one of my friend named Karan and I felt that I can write about it.
When I questioned, some people that what is the depression to you?
The answers I received were - feeling empty or sad, getting disgruntled and all you have is negative vibes.
But trust me depression is something more than this.
Then What depression is?
Scientifically depression is a mental health disorder characterised by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment of life.
In simple words, when you feel zero, doing something continuously disturbs you and you're not able to appreciate yourself is Depression.
So let's understand the game of depression.
1. What part of the brain is affected during the depression?
The amygdala is part of the limbic system, a group of structures deep in the brain that's associated with emotions such as anger, pleasure, sorrow, fear and sexual arousal.
The influx of cortisol triggered by depression also causes the amygdala to enlarge, when it becomes larger and more active, it causes sleep disturbances, changes in activity levels and other hormones.
2. What are the main causes of Depression?
There are a number of factors that may increase the chance of depression, including the following:
*Abuse- Past physical, sexual, or emotional abuse can increase the vulnerability to clinical depression later in life.
*Other personal problems- Problems such as social isolation due to other mental illnesses or being cast out of a family or social group can contribute to the risk of developing clinical depression.
*Serious illnesses- Sometimes depression co-exists with a major illness or may be triggered by another medical condition.
*Conflict- Depression in someone who has the biological vulnerability to develop depression may result from personal conflicts or disputes with family members or friends.
*Death or a loss- Sadness or grief from the death or loss of a loved one, though natural, may increase the risk of depression.
*Genetics- A family history of depression may increase the risk. It's thought that depression is a complex trait, meaning that there are probably many different genes that each exert small effects, rather than a single gene that contributes to disease risk. The genetics of depression, like most psychiatric disorders, are not as simple or straightforward as in purely genetic diseases such as Huntington's chorea.
*Certain drugs are also responsible for depression such as codeine, morphine, opioids, corticosteroids and anticholinergic taken to relieve stomach cramping can sometimes cause changes in mood.
3.Why depression is a curse to us?
I named depression, a curse because it snatches all your happiness away. Sometimes people make the unworthy decision for themselves. They are not able to visualize things better anymore. Depression can lead to death too. People feel blank, they're not able to trust themselves anymore. It feels like a curse but still, you are the one who is able to remove it from your life.

4. How can you challenge depression?
Challenging depression is quite difficult but not impossible. You can follow further steps to overcome depression.
1. Get a routine - follow a task table or time table according to your convenience.
2. Do something new - do new things which can make you feel relaxing.
3. Try to have fun - add the comedy series or else you like in your checklist.
4. Set goals - Setting goals is one of the best ways to overcome depression. Because when you'll complete your goals, you'll feel happy.
5. Eat healthily - eating is an important part, add healthy food in your eating habits.
6. Challenge negative thoughts - one of the hardest but necessary. Challenge your mind to reprogram. To reprogram your mind and thoughts, you can refer to my last post.
Take on responsibility, Get Enough sleep and try to meditate for at least 10 mins for yourself.
Know yourself better, I understand sometimes the words are not enough to make it easier. Still, you've to manage yourself decent. The actions of you with yourself should be the outcomes of knowing yourself.
I hope guys it helped you. I'll try to help you all as much as I can. Share to those who need this.
I wish that you all are loving yourself.
Thank you!
